Hello, Friend!

Last updated 10/24/2025

About Me:

I'm Kori Michele! (they/them/their)

I'm an artist! I care about art and artmaking as an essential part and maintaining humanity. I practice painting, zinemaking, cartooning, writing, and teaching.

I got a BFA in Painting from the Maine College of Art in 2008 and a MFA in Cartooning from the Center for Cartoon Studies in 2019. In between I was a dishwasher, financial aid counselor, anime nerd, health food store clerk, illustrator, and web cartoonist.

I've published hundreds of pages of comics and over a hundred zines! I've contributed to a dozen comic anthologies and co-published one of my own. From 2020-2025 I taught Publication Arts and Professional Practices in the MFA program at CCS. I've done a number of lectures and workshops on color in comics, zines and self-publishing, adult comics and queer comics. I sell my zines through my web store and at comic festivals, and freelance as a comics flatter and colorist.

In 2024 I self-published a zine making workbook called Tiny Book Science. It's the culmination of everything I've learned about making zines and teaching others how to make zines. I'm very proud of it, and it was a huge undertaking.

Currently, I'm taking a break from teaching to focus on my own work, which includes writing essays, drawing journal comics, developing a long-form comic about revolution, and painting a lot of pictures, often of a K-pop idol I'm a little musically and aesthetically obsessed with. I think you should follow your heart wherever it goes. Recently I contributed annotations and comics to Gender Queer: the Annotated Edition by Maia Kobabe (Spring 2026.)

I'm a proud little freak, and I believe in love. You should tell someone you love them right now!

Friendship is the currency of anarchism! Free Palestine! I love you!
